To make this work and playable, i have also built an iron warriors overlord, 5 immortals with tesla, 5 immortals with gauss and 5 deathmarks

IMAGES TO FOLLOW, this is fun in a bun!

Chapter 4 - Angels From Heaven or Hell? WIP

Chapter 4 – Angels From Heaven or Hell?

Unsure of whether there was a cohort of Black Templars on the planet trying to continue to halt the blood rituals or not, Nabu aired on the side of caution insisting that the pilot land the thunderhawk in the remaining open lands on Lastrati. This was to be a quiet inquiry, similar to that of their brothers in the Alpha Legion, until the host could establish links and connect with the various leaders of the major cities.  The Thunderhawk  had only just left the hangar bay and begun its descent to the planet’s surface, as the pilot navigated through the air space looking for an appropriate place to land and deliver the war host contained within. The war host of fates reach were few in number, but strong in will and devout to the cause ahead of them, nothing would stop them in their pursuit of enlightenment. Nabu had two squads of astartes to support him in his cause as well as Erra and his chosen few with their plasma technology. Although Erra had his chosen few, Nabu valued the devotion of each of his brothers, each will fulfil the hosts desire in service not just to the word but to their master and lord. “Brothers we ready for battle, we swear our oath of moment to this time, we shall seek enlightenment of this world and remove the taint of the emperor from this planet”
“By your word, it will be done” clucked the astartes

*     *     *

The engines had stopped roaring, that was the indication to the host that they were ready to seek enlightenment on this world. “brothers be ready, we start out pilgrimage on this world”
As the astartes began to leave the Thunderhawk gunship a tactical array appeared on the internal display of Nabu’s helmet, a location was identified roughly three miles north of their landing pad. It was a small settlement that outlied on one of the cities, this would be the first time that they Word Bearers would make contact with the people’s of this planet, did he hope that they would provide some answers for him…

With no vehicles, except the thunderhawk, the Word Bearers made their way on foot towards the settlement, the vox was clear and silent, no astartes need mutter a word when following their Apostle, for he would lead the way to the destination. A private hail was received over the vox, it was from the Fleet Commander aboard the Fates Effect. “My Lord, I have had confirmation from the leaders of the first city, they are on their way to meet you in the settlement. The other leaders have yet to confirm their attendance, this may be to not alert the local imperial forces of your presence”
“Thank you Adanu, What is the status of the ground forces?”
“According to the leaders it is mainly Imperial Guard but there is word of a group of Black Templars residing in one of the cities, keeping an eye out for heretics”
“How have these supposed leaders remained for so long then?
“That my lord you will have to ask them yourselves…”
The vox link cut out as Erra’s voice came over another channel. “We are close to the outskirts of the settlement my Lord, it looks more like an outlying hive city than what I had expected”
“Do not let your eyes deceive you Erra. This world holds true to its origins, I expect that most of the hives are located underground. Worry not, I am sure our arrival will be expected and welcomed”

The astartes had not yet drawn their weapons on this planet, but were being cautious as they approached the outer edge of the city. A small group of men armed with laspistols and shotguns were waiting, they had not yet seen them due to the lack of augmented sight provided by the Astartes suit of armour. “Hostiles Ahead” barked a marine
“They are not hostile, they are awaiting the angels” replied Nabu
“Calm yourselves, their weaponary is primitive anyhow…it would not be able to harm an Astartes” chimed Erra.
“Arrogance will pay you no heed Erra, we may be strong but we are not immortal”
The astartes continued to pace forward towards the city, finally the humans had noticed them. They were ushering the astartes into the city through what seemed like a disused exit of the city, although no official boundary seemed to be apparent in the minds of Nabu. Small hab cities like this were common place, areas of mass poverty, each full of gangers and crimes that were policed by the local militia. This city however seemed devoid of any rule, the city was in ruins and was more than likely to be abandoned, save for a few that could not bare to leave. An opportune location to meet thought Nabu, their hosts had thought this through.

As the bulky astartes walked the ruined city, constantly surveying their surroundings ensuring that their was to be no foul play, they could not help but notice the distinct smell and plague that seemed to have ravaged this city.
“What happened here?” questioned Nabu, as he walked behind the humans
“The great plague. No-one really comes here anymore, it was told that a great being appeared before this world and infected it with a evil virus, from which only the strong would survive”
“And how many did?”
“None…”
The response played on his mind for a moment before continuing his line of questioning “And what of the great plague now?”
“It is said that some still bare the burden of the plague, but for the most part it is believed to have died out. It is said that this city is cursed and that it will return one day to wreak it vengeance, hence why no-one really lives here”
“Such a pleasant tale, a city damned and people flock away”

It was not much more than a five minute walk before they had reached their destination, a large cathedral like structure that despite the rest of the city was intact, they began their walk up the marble stairway to the lording arched doorway that was appearing in front of them. The men that had lead them to their destination, briefly nealt before the temple before entering through its gate, Nabu although surprised by the apparent ritual enjoyed seeing such devotion. Maybe this world will hold the answers I seek. Nabu continued up the stairs, turned to face his brothers “Erra, stay with the host and set up a perimeter. If anything trys to interrupt us, show it the power of our word”
“Yes My Lord” and with that Erra began to co-ordintate his brother astartes to take up different positions within the city to ensure that they were not interrupted. Satisfied that his will was being done, Nabu turned back and entered the temple.

For a human place of devotion Nabu was impressed with its grandeur, what appeared to be black marble lined the temple, although there was patches of what appeared to be toxic waste was placed sporadically around the temple. He walked down the central gangway through the sets of pews located either side of him to see a group of four young men and an elderly gentleman sitting atop an Emerald Throne. “Welcome Angel” barked the old man.
Nabu stopped halfway down the great hallway, the echo from the man indicating that he was close enough to have the conversation he desired.
“Why do you call me an Angel? And who do I address in this glorious monument?”
“You may call me Grimalus, I am the leader of one of the four cults on this world”
“Cults?”
“There are four ways to show your devotion on this world Angel. Plague, Pleasure, Sorecey and Bloodshed. I lead those that believe the Great Plague will return and that we are the chosen strong few that will remain on this planet, triumphing above all others. I was but a boy when the curse struck and now I am living proof of the possibilities of our people.” As he finished his tale, he revealed various boils that seemed to ooze a green liquid.
“You seem ill of health Grimalus, not much longer for this plain are you?”
Grimalus brought a smerk across his face as he regarded the giant figure in red and gold. “I have been on this world for over two hundred years, I am not cursed but blessed by the great plague. I stand alone atop the world with this blessing”
“So what do you have to tell me of this world? How can you enlighten me in the ways of the supposed plague?”
“Supposed plague?” scoffed the old man, “You will see what we see, through my words I will enlighten you and you will look for our word to guide you. The great plague provides us with resilience  to our enemies, we may be few in number but we are not affected by simple illness. We shrug off wounds that would kill mortal men outright…”
“As you see old man, we are not mortal men”
“But you can still fall ill as we do, shed blood in the light of war…By following our faith and aiding in the sacrifice to the great plague you will be rewarded”
“I will not decide yet , bearer of the plague. I seek information from all councils before the decision is rendered.”
“Be it your will, but you will find that the other leaders will only meet you within their grounds. This is a temple of plague, not of sorcery or pleasure. You will need to venture further to establish your pathway Angel”
“Then so it will be.”
Interruped by a Erra on the vox, “My Lord, There is a small Imperial force approaching our postion. It numbers no more than twenty-five humans. Shall we engage?”
“Await my arrival Erra” whispered Nabu through the vox channel, acutely aware that he was still engaged in conversation with the old man. “It seems that the local militia have been alerted to our presence. We must deal with this problem before our awareness is brought to those of more importance on this world”
“Then we shall all depart. We shall leave and return to our city. Make us aware of your decision shortly…we welcome the worship of angels to our cause”
“We shall see…” responded Nabu as he turned and left for the gates at the front of the temple to re join his host.

Word Bearers - Chapter 3 'First Contact'

So, expect fast and furious updates to the blog reguarly...Summer break officially begins now!!! Check out chapter 3, i am planning a game or two against some Guard and Templar players to write chapter 4...'Angels from Heaven or Hell?'

-------------------

Chapter 3 – First Contact

Nabu was not sure what he would find when he got to Lastrati, he had poured over the word and found out many things, of the pilgrimage by the Black Templars, the blood rituals and sacrifices that occurred all those years ago, yet nothing existed of the current state of Lastrati.
Fates reach had finally reached the orbit and the fleet commander stood upon the throne on the command deck, throwing up the pict on the viewer a sun drenched world was revealed covered in deserts. How could such life live on a planet like this? What would come from this journey thought Adanu. As the thought passed the doors to the command deck opened and the figure of Nabu respendent in his armour of crimson red and silver entered, closely followed by his newly appointed apprentice. “We have arrived Fleet Commander?”
“Yes my lord, this is the world of Lastrati”
“Excellent, although this world appears not as it is written…”
“My Lord?”
“In the book of Lorgar, the depicting of this world was of a lush planet, the unenlightened must have done this….”

A moments silence passed before anyone had spoken, there was word of the Templars cleansing worlds, those that did not provide enlightenment served no purpose. How mistaken were those fools? Did they not know the secret powers of plague, pleasure, wisdom and bloodshed the world had to provide to those that would seek it.
“We must prepare for planetfall, Erra prepare the followers”
No word was spoken by Erra, he simply turned and left the command deck with due haste.  Turning to the Fleet Commander “Are there any other ships in orbit?”
Adanu walked towards a servitor that was loosely wired into a part of the command deck, leaning over the lowly servitor he starred into a screen for several seconds before turning back to the Chaplain “No my sire, there does not seem to be any other ships in orbit”
“Good, we can proceed uninterrupted” responded Nabu, “Seek enlightenment upon the surface world, Commander. I will be joining my brothers in preparing for planetfall, I expect the information before I reach the hangar…”
“Yes My Lord, By Your Word”
Nabu had not paid any attention to the word of the human as he began to leave, he would do as he was ordered, or he would be punished by the greater gods of this world.

*     *      *

As Nabu made his way to the Hangar where his brothers would be waiting, a voice came over the vox in his armour “My lord we have identified a number of small settlements located on the surface, although there is four large cities that seem to be located across the planet although little detail seems to be known of their existence”.  Nabu let out a slight shy and thought to himself of the destination that he would look to in search of enlightenment, which major city would be his first port of call. He stopped for a second and inhaled deeply, my father, my teacher, guide me to my landing point
“Adanu, send a message to the surface to each of the four cities, telling them of out arrival…we should be welcomed by these devout citizens”
“My Lord, each of these cities from the records left by the Black Templars indicate that each city is tainted in some way”
Nabu considered the word, four cities, four dark powers, was this coincidence or a greater force in mind?
“The cities have returned our message, they wish to meet the angels that descend from the heavens”
“angels that descend from heavens?” thought Nabu
“Yes Sire, that is how they brand you…”
“Then let us descend into this sacred land…”
“By your Word” replied Adanu.

With that the vox went silent again and Nabu approached the thunderhawk gunship, inside he saw the start of his host. Ten Word Bearers each bearing the symbol of his host, a book with a dagger. Nabu looked for Erra, seeing his apprentice in the robes of office, the cream overcloak flowing over his power armour, and with his skull adorned long shaft seemed at peace with his new role. A private vox channel opened between the Apostle and apprentice
“What do you expect to find on this world?”
“Erra, you must learn it is not what we find, but what finds us…we are planning to meet with the leaders of each of the four major cities located on the surface”
“Should we be cautious sire? The tales from the Black Templars talk of blood sacrifice and revolution”
“We are the ‘Angels from Heaven’, I do not foresee any problems but we will be wary of our surroundings. We will bring the word and give enlightenment to those that seek it, purging those that don’t”
“By your word”

The familiar roar of the thunderhawk engines powered up and the astartes locked into their grav harnesses ready for the descent to the surface, would they truly be welcomed with open arms or would this be a trap in which they would fall prey? Only time would reveal the true answer to the questions that Nabu needed answers. The descent began and the word would be seeked.

Word Bearers - Opening Chapters....Feedback Required

Chapter 1 – The Beginning

“and so it should be…Nabu we grant you the rank of Apostle with, which to spread the word”
“and so shall it be” came a chorus of voices from around the darkened room.
The man in centre of the room lit by a single candle rose from his crouched position still with his head bowed. “I thank the council for this chance, I will spread the word to those who have not yet heard it”
“You have studied the scriptures well and proven yourself on the battlefield, we expect great things…”
“I will serve the gods and preach the word of Lorgar”
“That you will…now go, gather your men and begin your pilgrimage to true enlightenment as Lorgar did”
The newly appointed apostle turned and began to leave the room, as he left the chorus of voices began again speaking a prayer in the name of Lorgar.

As he made his exit, the great doors to the council chambers came open and the light of the world poured onto him, as he left the chamber he whispered a short prayer to himself, to help him embark on his journey. A short walk from the chamber Nabu arrived at his quarters on the daemon world of Sicarius. He pressed the pad on the door and the doors to his hab-cell threw themselves open to reveal a simple hab with nothing more than the cot, scriptures and the new armour of his host.  It was a dark red and silver design, common amongst the Word Bearers legion, but with new adornments and scriptures on the legs and shoulderpads in a bright gold, each scripture a testament to the Book of Lorgar. The hulking astartes walked towards his new armour, thumbing his fingers over the different folds and curves, these would be his tools for which to deliver the word and for that he was grateful. Although he taken a back by the grandeur of his position, his true blessing was the crozious for which he would help shape the future of the world.

With a loud buzz a monitor turned on behind him, the ghostly figure of a deck hand appeared “My lord, your ship is ready for your pilgrimage, shall I assemble the men?”
The figure slowly turned to face the screen “Assemble the men, it is our turn to bring the word to the galaxy…”
“By your word Lord”
The viewing screen switched off, leaving Nabu with his thoughts on the journey that he was to undertake. He began to take his armour off the racks and began to adorn it on him. Fully clad he left his hab and went to the hangar bay where a old imperial thunderhawk was waiting to take him and his host to his assigned cruiser: Fates Reach.

As he approached the thunderhawk his new followers dedicated to his word were already embarking on to the ship awaiting the word. In his terminator armour, Nabu’s steps were heavy but with the mass of servos built into armour he was unstrained by the movement. He clambered up the assault ramp “It is time brothers, let us begin our pilgrimage”
“By your word”
As the words were spoken the assault ramps closed behind Nabu and he moved to take his seat in the airship. With a roar, the engines powered up but not a single marine twitched and the bird began to leave the hangar ready to depart to the Fates Reach. Not a word was spoken by the Apostle or his brothers on the journey, each in quiet contemplation of the journey laid out ahead of them.

Finally, the Thunderhawk approached Fates Reach, a voice came over the vox channel, “Welcome My Lord, We live to serve you and the word…Your quarters are ready for you”
The Apostle, still in contemplation of his personal pilgrimage, the reason he had been granted this position was to complete a single task, a task that he did not fully understand yet, gave no response.  The bird landed in the hangar of fates reach, the deafening roar of the engines cut out and the assault ramps lowered. “We have arrived my lord, your pilgrimage can begin”

The warriors of the word departed the thunderhawk to be met by a series of men clad in dirty imperial uniforms. As the armoured warriors approached the small contingent of men they saluted, dwarfed by the warriors in their red armour. “Welcome aboard my lord, this ship is in your service, by your word we will serve your host the best that we can”
“You will serve to your end, in the name of Word…we are the Bringers of the Word and we will deliver it to the Imperium”
The Apostle waved his hand at the men and they lowered their arms and began to ease themselves around the astartes. “My lord, we are going to ready the ship to depart, do you have your first destination of your pilgrimage in mind?” asked the still nervous Fleet Commander.
“To Lastrati” was the only response that came from the Apostle.

Lastrati was once a place of pilgrimage, until the Black Templars arrived and had, under the order of Marshal Gervhart, cleansed the world of the taint that had taken hold. This was where the pilgrimage would have to begin, where they would look for the first answers to their quest. Although it was believed that the Black Templars had long forgotten the world and left it to ways, believing its taint removed, this was not the case. The world was still steeped in heresy and this is where Nabu would begin the recruitment into his host.

Chapter 2 – The Appointing of an Apprentice

The journey to Lastrati would take three terran weeks, ample time for the warriors of fates reach to prepare themselves, should the devout taint of the Black Templars still be present. Nabu believed firmly in the word and spent the majority of his time reading the word, letting the feelings flow through him, empowering him to be a devout follower of Lorgar. His fellow astartes however had focused more on the training at hand, spending their time focusing on being combat ready, one in particular had caught Nabu’s eye on the solemn occasions that he had left his quarters, Erra. Although Erra was like other astartes, large in mass and devout in faith to the book of Lorgar, his passion was like no other Nabu had encountered in his time serving the Word Bearers in their various crusades across the galaxy. Erra was born in the eye of terror and had been brought up on the book of Lorgar even before he had been inducted in to the ranks of the astartes.

Nabu decided that he needed to meet with Erra, this young astartes had drawn his attention, he sent a message via the vox on the ship. Erra was sparring with a combat servitor in the training grounds of the battle cruiser when the message finally reached him. As the message appeared the servitor thrust at Erra with a long sword, the astartes reflexes easily dodging the blade and thrusting his own power sword into the servitor, causing oil to exhale from the newly formed wound. The servitor was no more and collapsed in a heap as he turned to face the viewer screen. The fleet commander, that Erra had identified as Adanu, appeared on the screen “Greetings Lord, Apostle Nabu requires your presence in his chambers immediately”
“By his word, I will be there shortly”
“Thank you my Lord”
And the screen turned off, as quickly as it had turned on. Erra went to the weapons rack, returning his power sword to the sheathe, grabbing a cloth from the side he wiped off the sweat from his body, adorning his robe, he left the training grounds to see the one that would bring the word to him.

Nabu was sitting at his throne looking through the scriptures of Lorgar as Erra entered his chambers. “Aah my son, you have arrived. Do you know why I have asked you here?”
“No sire, I seek your divine wisdom on the summoning”
“I have a special interest in you Erra, you are truly devout of the word and that is to be commended in one so young”
The Chaplain began to leave his seat, moving towards his brother, “I feel that you follow the word as I do, and I want to train you fully in the following of the word”.
“I am honoured to be offered such an opportunity, I will not disappoint you”
“You best not my brother, for your death will be a simple blessing instead of the pain and horror inflicted by those from the warp”
Although to any human it would of seemed that Erra had not moved, Nabu with his astartes senses noticed the twitch of horror on his face, realising that his failure would lead to eternal damnation by the gods.
“Although I am the bearer of the word, you will help convert brothers to our cause”
“I am to be charged with the recruitment to our host?”
Nabu stood there, seeing the genuine question as more of a joke, yet realising that this was a serious request addressed his apprentice
“Yes Erra, I will spread the word and you will help preach it to our new brothers, enlightening them of the word of Lorgar”
“By your Word…”
“Leave me now Erra, I must consider the great word and how it can best support us in our pilgrimage”
Without further comment, Erra left his lord alone to consider the word and to consider his newly appointed task.

*     *     *

Fates Reach was approaching the world of Lastrati and in that time all of the host had focused on the upcoming task of seeking the enlightenment of the world, of what the Black Templars had seeked and found, although not to their liking, could be a key to the freeing of the daemon spirits and proving to the Gods that they were worthy of notice. Nabu had seeked enlightment in the weeks leading up to arriving in orbit of Lastrati, pouring over the books of Lorgar deciphering the will of the gods…is it of a focus of bloodlust, of spreading plague, the sensation of englightenment or focusing on the hope of making change…either way Nabu saw the answer in the world of Lastrati.

Decision Made - Word Bearers

I feel that when intoxicated I make the decisions for my future armies....and i have started my Word Bearers Warband.

I currently have made the Dark Apostle  and a box of CSM ready to build....but to get you all started a bit of fluff for the summer of fun and games he will be going on this summer break:

I have been an apprentice all my life, a person that has been educated and provided with the knowledge to succeed…now it is my time to prove myself worthy of the blessing I have been given, to be a vessel from which the word flows, to convince others that the gods I follow are the true gods and not that of the false emperor.

I begin my life as an Apostle today, for which I am granted my own host…I begin with twenty of my brothers to help me spread the word. We will seek to enlighten the galaxy to the blight that is the Emperor and his scriptures…we may be few but with the right words we will become many, with the right words we will achieve great things…

Let our story be scripted as it is in the book of Lorgar, let us gather our might and share our wisdom with the world…one way or another the word will be spread, people will hear our call and follow or fall…

And so it begins…

Happy Reading all, I will be writing chapter of fluff based on this warband...only when its painted will it be played with!!!! I will complete an army!!!!!

40K - Daemons and Chaos

Daemons - Built some pink horrors, hate the arms so they are armless.....Got some flamers to build as well.

Chaos - working on developing the ideas and concepts for my word bearers force........really tempted to have a unit of chosen with symoblic weaponary from other legions e.g. a melta/flamer dude in salamanders colours, Black templars/Raven Guard with Lightning Claws, Combi-Weapon on a Ultramarine...with the champion with a crozious and a scroll....converting the loyalists to the 'word of lorgar'

Tuesday 10 July 2012

More 40K - Daemons and Stuff

So started getting into Daemons, really easy to paint, really easy to build (on the whole).

First game with this list:
Skulltaker, (2) 10 Bloodletters, 3 Skullcrushers....couple of upgrades here and there....W: 7 v 2

Second Game:
Skulltaker, 5 Bloodletters with Icon, 5 Bloodletters, 3 Skullcrushers Icon and Unholy Might, 5 Pink Horrors with Bolt and Icon....W: 12 v 0

Sooooooo time to expand i think... Going to build the remaining pink horrors and then build 3 flamers....after that its a wait and see game....

----------

Word Bearers/New 40K Chaos army....not really into Night Lords so looking to sell them probably and start a new chaos army for 6th edition.

Sunday 8 July 2012

Massive Update - 40K Focus

Evening All, its late but time for an update...and in a very style unlike me, i have got photos to share....

So 6th edition is out, and i have played a handful of game...key things to note:
- NIGHT FIGHTING - now gives cover saves depending on distance apart (NOT ROLL TO SEE)
- HULL POINTS - glancing causes you to lose a hull point
- RENDING - AP2
- POWER WEAPONS  (like lightning claws) = AP3
- ASSAULTING = Random Charges
- OVERWATCH = BS1 stand and shoot like fantasy

So now for the good stuff.....

I have been working on a series of things (1 getting chosen finished, no pics)....mainly allies and my 40k army without a 40k model project....SOOOOOOOOOO

Daemons ally (just cse i can)

Can you spot the Skulltaker??? Its like wheres wally!

3 Bloodcrushers

Just a quick side note...took these for a 600pt fight and they trashed a vanilla army....Skulltaker is evil as hell....

More good stuff....so 40K army without a 40K model...first things first the Nemesis Dreadknight with Heavy Psycannon (WIP)...

ALLIES: Howling Griffons ally....so 40k models  but none the less fits the fluff....

Master of the Recruits (Space Marine Captain, Relic Blade and Plasma Pistol in Artificer Armor) = mainly a grey knight with sanguinary guard blade and space marine plasma pistol.
Tactical Squad - 5man with a PF

Finally a 5 man actual assault squad with PW and Flamer....ex models from my Death Whispers marine chapter.

So thats pretty much it for now....Fantasy is on the massive backburner as painting skaven is actually making me lose the will to live...they are however getting there.

Looking to get some Word Bearers on the go when the new 40k codex comes out and boxed set....in effect giving me 3 allies....CSM, Daemons and IG (Cultists from new book).

HAVE FUN ALL AND GET USED TO 6th...
